R2 announces today that it has successfully completed the installation of the SIL2 rated EMOS® Safety System for electrochemical process monitoring of membrane technology electrolysers at the HF Chlor Alkali facility in Eddyville, Iowa, USA.
EMOS®’s high fidelity cell voltage data acquisition system combined with its advanced engineering and data analysis tools are providing HF Chlor Alkali unparalleled visibility and reliability for electrolyser process safety. Beyond the safety functions, EMOS® is providing advanced electrolyser condition monitoring for qualitative insight into the operational performance of critical components, resulting in a precise, proactive approach to electrolyser maintenance and scheduling.
R2’s EMOS® SIL2 Safety System, is the only electrolyser safety system available with a SIL2 rating. While monitoring over 60, 000 elements in plants around the world, R2 was able to conduct an extensive Hazop Study. This study concluded that in order to provide complete electrolyser protection with a very low possibility of failure, SIL2 is necessary.
The EMOS SIL2 Safety System includes everything required to provide a plant with the highest level of safety available on the market.
HF CHLOR-ALKALI, LLC (HFC) is an affiliate of HARRIS & FORD, LLC. The company began construction of the Chlor-Alkali production facility on August 22, 2013.The plant is based in Eddyville, IA, and has terminals around the US to ship caustic soda, HCl and bleach, via truck and rail. HF Chlor-Alkali not only meets rigid international standards for quality production methods, but has also been validated by GFSI. HFC is proud to be the first minority-owned Chlor-Alkali plant in the US. HFC’s goal is to provide the highest quality product in the industry, and the company has invested in state of the art technologies and systems.
