R2 Poised to Consolidate Presence in China with Bluestar Collaboration


Montreal, Quebec – Today R2, the world leading cell room safety and optimization system provider, announces that it has signed a collaboration agreement with BlueStar (Beijing) Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd., a leading technology provider in the Chinese chlor-alkali market.  The goal is to jointly promote the further adoption of EMOS® (Electrolyser Management Optimization and Safety) in the China chlor-alkali industry.  As two prominent technology providers to the industry, the companies expect this collaboration will increase the safety and help reduce the energy consumption of the industry in China.

On behalf of their respective parties, Mr. Gilles J. Tremblay, President of R2 and Mr. Jianzhong Kang, General Manager of Bluestar (Beijing) Chemical Machinery, signed the Collaboration Agreement in Beijing on October 29th, 2014 in the presence of The Honourable Phillipe Couillard, Premier of Quebec.

Under the collaboration agreement, both companies will join forces to expand the awareness and understanding of EMOS® Safety System to the China chlor-alkali industry.

“There are over 200 bi-polar membrane chlor-alkali plants in China”, comments Gilles Tremblay, President of R2, “and although Chinese producers are adopting the latest “zero gap” technology to improve their productivity and energy efficiency, they are decades behind in regards to the latest safety technology.  In fact, a great proportion of them are only taking voltage readings by hand sometimes once a day or even once a week.  We want to bridge this gap by bringing them EMOS® which will allow the China chlor-alkali plants to produce safely as well as reduce their energy costs.  We believe that Bluestar by their leadership in terms of technology, reputation and marketing resources in China is the right partner to help us achieve this.”
